We are looking for a Senior Manager (comms and engagement) to join the GLA’s Health and Wellbeing Team. Your role will involve leading the Health teams’ and Public Health Unit’s communication, engagement and insight function.
The role includes a varied and interesting portfolio of work and lots of great opportunities for learning and development. The role will support the work of the two Units on key messaging and quality assurance of all public facing communication including campaigns and insights work. As well as internal corporate and mandate work.
The role involves building and maintaining strong partnerships both internally and externally with health & care partners and local government and staying abreast of key issues. It involves providing expert and strategic input into health and public health policy development and implementation, as well as delivery of key commitments and priorities. The role will require you to work closely with policy and delivery teams from the two Units & across other mandates.
You will manage senior level stakeholder relationships and coordinate the collective delivery of your team’s objectives through cross-organisational working within the GLA and across the GLA Group as well as wider partners.
You must be able to operate at pace and under pressure & be able/ willing to work flexibly as priorities change and job families are adopted.
The HCYL and PHU work in a flexible and matrix way so the successful post holder must be able to demonstrate being comfortable with working flexibly and managing change.
This role includes line management responsibilities and some matrix management responsibilities related to individual projects.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Evidence of success in undertaking project-based work
Preparation of clear and concise reports, presentations and briefings on complex and sensitive issues for a range of different audiences.
Experience in the field of communications, particularly related to health and care and/or public health and in a political context or setting, is highly desirable.
Be able to demonstrate proactively managing partner relationships, preventing or resolving any conflict
