Senior Manager - Business Engagement

Volunteering and social action activity helps deliver Mayoral priorities like social integration, building employability skills and reducing mental health inequalities. But not all Londoners have the chance to volunteer as there are barriers such as time, knowledge of opportunities and confidence. Team London and Community Sport works to break down these barriers and make volunteering more accessible and more recognised.

London is a city with so many businesses of all sizes – and we want them to encourage their employees to take part in volunteering and social action opportunities.

This role is an exciting 9 month FTC opportunity to develop the work on behalf of the GLA.

You will work on building relationships with business, helping engage them in creating employer supported volunteering (ESV) offers and opportunities. You will enable business to be more aware of the Good Work Standard and how supporting volunteering and social action can help them meet it. You will work in partnership with other colleagues within Team London and the wider GLA to align activity around how business can support the third sector and civil society across London ensuring we act as a convener, advisor and broker for the private sector, support and enhance existing initiatives and bring together corporates around relevant issues.

There may be the requirement to create suitable working groups, including external stakeholders (eg BIDs, Businesses and membership organisations such as CIPD and London Funders) and internal stakeholders (CSP and other policy teams) in order to create a combined workplan and approach that will avoid duplication and draw on individual organisations strengths and knowledge. There may also be the requirement to look at brokerage services across London and evaluate how the Team London volunteering website fits into this context.

You will need to be; a skilled communicator at a senior level, able to work with external partners and stakeholders, have a high level of internal policy awareness. Regarding technical competencies, we are looking for someone with experience and understanding of the context of volunteering and social action in London and the policy space occupied by the GLA, experience of working with commercial organisations, advising on corporate social responsibility and ESV engagement with civil society and the public sector across a wide variety of areas. We also want someone with a successful track record of developing new strategies and policy approaches and in taking work from a vision to implementation.
