The Greater London Authority is London’s regional government. It supports the Mayor of London in delivering their programmes and priorities and is overseen by the London Assembly. Climate change and the environment have been central to City Hall’s work and London has consistently demonstrated strong national and international leadership. COVID-19 has further emphasised the critical role of the environment in London’s economy and society, with a Green New Deal forming a central part of the capital’s recovery plan.
The GLA Environment and Energy unit is recruiting to a Principal Policy and Programme Officer role in the Climate Change team with a focus on flood and water management policy and programmes.
This role will support the ongoing implementation of climate adaptation policies and proposals in the Mayor’s London Environment Strategy and delivery of the Green New Deal programmes. This will include shaping policies and implementing projects to reduce the risks and impacts of flooding, increasing the amount of sustainable drainage across the city and ensuring efficient, secure, resilient and affordable water supplies for London.
The role will work closely with the GLA planning and infrastructure teams to ensure that adaptation policies are delivered through new developments and also with flood risk management authorities, water companies and the relevant regulators.
Please ensure your Supporting Statement clearly addresses all of the Person Specification Criteria (Technical requirements and behavioural competencies) .
