What does London’s future look like? How do we create communities in which Londoners want to live, work and play? What will make London the best big city in the world?
These are just some of the questions we’re working to answer in the Opinion Research team at City Hall. But we can’t do this alone – a dialogue with and understanding of Londoners is essential, and that’s where this job comes in.
You will be working in the Opinion Research team, with external research agencies, opinion research colleagues and policy officers from across City Hall, to bring new insight from Londoners to develop policies and programmes that meet Londoners needs.
We are experts at integrating research, data analysis and consultation into meaningful policy conversations, to meet the challenges that London faces such as recovery from the pandemic, the climate emergency, and social inequality. We use a range of tools: from traditional forms of consultation and social research, to innovative digital engagement.
This role will develop a career in opinion research. You’ll need to be well-organised and pro-active, with a strong understanding of opinion research or public consultation, and project planning, and be willing to pitch-in across the team’s work areas. You will be working with external research agencies and internal policy officers to deliver industry leading insight on citizens’ opinions, perceptions and behaviours. You will be a confident communicator, with experience sourcing information, analysing data sets and drafting reports.
Please ensure your Supporting Statement clearly addresses all of the Personal Specification Criteria (Technical requirements and behavioural competencies) .

We will be hosting an open virtual lunchtime session on Friday 15th October from 12:30-13:30 where potential applicants can find out more about the role and the work of the Opinion Research team, meet some of the current team, and ask us any questions you have.
