Opportunities to join the London Assembly as a Project Officer
Looking for a new challenge? Interested in research and policy analysis? We are currently looking for a project officer to join our busy team working with Assembly Members to hold the Mayor to account. The work is varied and interesting and you will play a part in helping to govern the best global city in the world.
The Assembly holds the Mayor of London to account, on behalf of all Londoners, for his £16 billion annual budget by publicly examining his policies and programmes. Its 25 elected Assembly Members are champions for London. They review and investigate issues that affect everyday life, working to improve the running of the city in areas such as policing, transport, housing and planning, the economy, health and the environment.
Working as a project officer will involve you delivering core tasks to help run the reviews and investigations of our policy committees. You will lead on engaging with our many stakeholders and provide the key administrative support that helps to make our reviews and investigations run smoothly. But you will also be involved with a wider range of tasks such as researching topics and identifying experts to question on rogue landlords, organising a site visit to a custody suite, or producing a presentation on healthy streets.
The ideal candidate will be a strong team player, who can communicate effectively with colleagues at different levels of seniority, including Assembly Members. You will be comfortable producing short research notes and manipulating basic data and you will be involved with a range of different projects across different subject areas. You will need excellent organisation and planning skills to juggle a busy workload. We don’t expect candidates to have in-depth knowledge of specific policy areas, but we are looking for motivated people with a passion for London and an enthusiasm for learning.
Our team has a strong track record of career development and support to help you grow.
This job is ‘politically restricted’ under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
