Our opportunity

At the GLA, we have a high-quality apprenticeship route that combines working in a great job, comprehensive training and development opportunities and a fair salary.

This business administration apprenticeship consists of 18-month long opportunity to build on your organisational and communication skills and apply your ‘can-do’ attitude whilst working towards a Business Administration Level 3 qualification.

You will work in a real job role with the GLA for 80% of your working hours and study toward the apprenticeship for the remaining 20% (equivalent of 1 day a week).

Job

We have a variety of teams who are looking for an enthusiastic apprentice to join them in delivering the Mayor’s manifesto commitments and/or supporting the London Assembly Members investigate issues affecting London.

As a business administration apprentice at the GLA, you will:

•         Provide general administrative support to your team.

•         Provide support to projects and/or events, as directed by team members.

•         Deliver an outstanding customer service to all stakeholders both internally & externally.

•         Network and attend meetings with both external and internal stakeholders.

•         Work collaboratively and support the wider team people with their workloads during peak periods.

•         Actively participate in your own development plan under the supervision of your line manager and the training provider.

•         Constructively take part in meetings, training, seminars and other events designed to improve communication and assist with your own development and that of your apprenticeship role.

Training & Development

Within your apprenticeship you will:

•    Complete a Business Administration Level 3 qualification funded by the GLA. This will involve attendance at a college and/or completing tasks in the workplace (depending on specific course requirements).

•    Join a personal and professional development programme that will involve a series of varied development activities and events throughout your apprenticeship.

Progression following the apprenticeship

After you have successfully completed your apprenticeship, you will have gained valuable workplace experience and attained a professional qualification which will improve your chances of finding work either within the GLA or with another employer or help you move on to a higher-level apprenticeship elsewhere. We will provide support on your approach to the wider job market as part of your development programme.

Working in the GLA

Working for the GLA offers you a challenging and rewarding job, as well as the chance to really improve the lives of Londoners.

In return, we offer great working conditions, competitive salaries, generous annual leave and pension schemes, and more.

GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.
