Under the banner of ‘Skills for Londoners’ the skills agenda is at the heart of the Mayor of London’s vision for London, ensuring both Londoners and London’s businesses have the skills they need to succeed. The newly created role of Funding Policy & Systems Manager – Skills will be central to preparation for devolution of the Adult Education Budget (AEB) to the Mayor.
The successful candidate will use technical expertise to manage the development and implementation of skills funding policy and systems to help realise the aspirations of the Mayor’s evolving London Skills Strategy, with a specific focus on adult skills and technical education.
Working as part of a wider skills policy and strategy team, the post will provide strategic direction and expert guidance on skills funding issues, specifically informing the development of priorities for a devolved AEB in London, a draft AEB Funding Statement and a draft AEB commissioning strategy
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a substantial technical knowledge of skills funding policy and systems, their development and their relationship to broader skills policy and strategy development. A successful track record in developing and implementing skills funding policy and systems, ideally related to adult skills and technical education, will also be important.
