Programme Manager (Partnerships Lead) – Sharing Cities

Take a leading role in the future of cities

This is your opportunity to take a leading role in demonstrating how innovative uses of technology such as lampposts with electronic sensors, electric vehicles and digital data can transform the way London and cities across Europe work together to improve urban environments and the lives of their residents.

The Greater London Authority leads a consortium with €25 million of secured funding that is implementing ambitious plans for integrating energy, transport and other city infrastructure, using the latest data and technology-driven innovations and business models. The programme, Sharing Cities, is part of Horizon 2020 (Smart Cities and Communities), the European Commission’s framework programme for research and innovation.

London is home to the Programme Management Office, where this role will be based, alongside our two other lead cities Lisbon and Milan. Other European cities (Burgas, Bordeaux and Warsaw) are also part of the consortium. As home to the demonstrator area, the Royal Borough of Greenwich is a key local partner, alongside a wide range of pan-European industry and academic partners.

The purpose of this role is to lead and coordinate delivery across the partnership and the involvement of 34 partners across 6 European cities to ensure programme objectives and outcomes are met, complex interdependencies are accounted for, and the strategic aims of the programme are driven forward.

These strategic ambitions include the scaling up of successful technologies outside of demonstrator areas and the shaping of the smart cities marketplace which will involve the post holder managing a range of projects within the overall programme and administering the related programme budgets on behalf of the Programme Director.

The Partnership Lead will act as deputy to the Programme Director in relation to the SCC01 Board of Coordinators group, the chairing of relevant meetings such as City PMO, and in speaking at conferences and on panel sessions in London and across Europe as required.

The role will include line management of the Sharing Cities Communications and Marketing Officers and on occasion programme interns, ensuring these posts are delivering on agreed objectives.

Based in the Smart London Team within the GLA Intelligence Unit, the post holder will also be responsible for maximising programme impact by working proactively with a range of stakeholders both internally and externally.

This is a Fixed Term opportunity from November 2019 – November 2020.
