This is an exciting opportunity to join, and take a lead role in, the Mayor’s volunteering and social action programme for London, working with business, young people and the third sector to increase volunteering across the capital.  

Team London encourages all Londoners to become active citizens and to give their time to make the capital a better place. The Mayor is committed to using volunteering as a way to improve social integration; unifying Londoners in and across communities and to also support Londoners to develop life skills to fulfil their potential. We work with civil society to create more opportunities for Londoners to support their local community. Finally, we also work with London’s businesses to help their staff give their time through employee supported volunteering (ESV).

In this role you will be responsible for setting the vision, strategy and subsequent programmes for how Team London will work to support social mobility and community engagement through volunteering, the job share element of this role will particularly focus on the social mobility part of the remit. You will be experienced in building relationships and influencing senior decision-makers across business and third sector. 

You will lead exciting new projects such as scoping reward and recognition for volunteering and social action, supporting London’s infrastructure organisations to work as effectively as possible and using volunteering and social action projects as a way to improve young peoples mental health and well being. You will work with business and charities to ensure the maximum benefit for London’s communities through programmes like Skill-UP which offers free learning and development to charity staff from leading London businesses.   

You will have a track record of staff, budget and project management and be able to demonstrate your ability to manage a portfolio of projects and manage multiple stakeholders. 

You will have a passion for third sector and volunteering and experience of working with volunteers, community groups and young people.  

This role will offer you the opportunity to work in a high-profile political environment with a wide range of community and charitable organisations.  It will give you the ability to influence Londoner’s futures and support civil society organisations to become more resilient. You will have the chance to work with businesses to support Mayoral priorities for London at programme and employee level.

This is a permanent contract working as a job share. The successful candidate will be required to work Monday-Wednesday.
