Senior Project Coordinator - Major Ceremonials

We are looking for someone who is organised and driven, able to work across multiple work strands, deliver high quality programme support and resolve issues quickly and effectively in a friendly and professional manner.  The candidate will need to work well under pressure and be able to provide high quality briefings and written documents to senior members of staff and stakeholders.  The candidate should have an interest in major events, their operations and delivery as well as a keen eye for detail.   

The City Operations Unit are responsible for the GLA’s strategic role in planning, advising and management of high impact events across the city where there is likely to be significant impact to business as usual, the transport network, public order and/or other major disruption to the capital. The City Operations Unit provides a 24-hour duty function for the GLA ensuring that information is received and disseminated in as close to real time as possible. The Unit is also responsible for leading the pan-London coordination for major ceremonial events in the Capital.

This role will work in the major ceremonial events area of the City Operations Team and will be have two main streams of work.  Firstly, to directly support internal teams with their plans for the Mayor of London’s response to ceremonial events, and secondly support external multi- agency planning and delivery that contributes to the pan-London coordination plan for ceremonial events.  

The role has a large focus on stakeholder engagement with both the internal Senior Leadership Team and some of London’s key partner agencies to ensure transparency in the planning and delivery of ceremonial events.  This is a unique opportunity to be a part of some of London’s largest and historical ceremonial events.       

This role is particularly suited to someone who wants to advance their career in programme/ project management, stakeholder management and engagement. 

The candidate will need to fulfil both a planning and operational delivery role when events take place, which will include some overnight and weekend work so a flexible approach would be required.    

Overall, this job offers an excellent combination of planning, operational delivery and policy work exposing the candidate to the full range of London’s city operations.  Working at the centre of city operations you will gain a unique insight into the GLA’s response to incidents and major events, as well as the opportunity to acquire new skills.
