Senior Strategic Planner – London Plan team

Are you up for working in London’s most exciting planning units and shaping London’s growth through the new London Plan.

Then come and join the GLA’s Planning Unit as a senior strategic planner leading on housing policy issues.

You’ll need to be passionate about planning in London with a track record of achievement in a comparable role and have the skills to deal with complex strategic planning issues.  You should have a degree/post graduate qualification in planning or equivalent with eligibility for RTPI membership. 

You will be joining the London Plan team at a crucial time of preparing to publish the new London Plan and implementing the London Plan. You will have a good understanding of:

  • The London SHLAA
  • Affordable housing products and the interplay between planning and housing policy
  • Viability - in particular the approach set out in the draft London Plan and Mayor's Affordable Housing and Viability SPG

 


You should have up to date knowledge of latest national policy, consultations and initiatives relating to housing and planning for housing. You will be expected to work closely with other teams across the Mayoral family, and in particular the GLA Housing and Land team.  We are looking for a flexible and adaptable planner with a can-do attitude and a track record of working on a range of policy areas who is excited about the prospect of turning the Mayor’s vision into a detailed strategy for the future of London.

You will be expected to present reports to the Mayor and Deputy Mayor directly, so you will need excellent written and verbal communication skills.  You will also need good negotiation skills and ability to work successfully with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
