Senior Education Policy Officer

We are looking for a Senior Education Policy Officer to join our busy education and youth team.  We’re passionate about improving the lives of young Londoners. This role is fixed term or secondment opportunity until the end of May 2018.

 

Every child in London should have the best possible chance for happiness and success. All young Londoners should benefit from a good school place, opportunities to thrive in safe and welcoming communities and a chance to have a say and contribute to London’s future. Our overarching aims are:

 
  • More children will be ready to thrive at school from the age of 5;
  • A good school place for all London’s children;
  • All children in the city will be doing better at school, and disadvantaged children will catch up with their peers; and
  • More young people will be on track to leave school ready for adult life in a world city.

 

London schools are facing many changes and challenges and your policy development and project management skills will focus on the Mayor’s pledge for every child in London having the best possible chance for happiness and success. You will manage the successful school leadership development scheme (Getting Ahead London) – and work with Teaching Schools and other stakeholders to kick-start better teacher recruitment and retention in the capital. You will contribute to development of new targeted activity to support disadvantaged children and young people.

 

The ideal candidate will have successful track record of education policy or research development to inform policy making and service delivery in London.

 

You will play a key role in shaping an engaging and compelling vision for how the Mayor will utilise the full range of his influencing, advocacy and convening powers to ensure more equitable and positive outcomes for all children and young people in London.
