Principal Strategic Planner – London Plan Team

Would you like to join one of the UK’s most exciting planning teams? Then come and join the GLA’s London Plan and Growth Strategies team which plays a key role in shaping London’s growth though the Mayor’s new London Plan.

 

We are currently seeking a highly-skilled and proactive Principal planner who will be responsible for providing management leadership specializing in the Environment, Infrastructure and Transport. 

 

You will support the London Plan Manager in preparing and delivering the Spatial Development Strategy, including presenting at the Examination in Public, as well as be responsible for managing a number of career-grade Senior Strategic Planners. 

 

To be successful you’ll need to be passionate about planning in London with a track record of achievement in a comparable role.  You will need to demonstrate a detailed understanding of the London Plan and have a detailed and up-to-date knowledge of strategic policy and priorities, national and regional planning and development issues, legal processes and policy trends. 

 

You will be expected to present reports to the Mayor and Deputy Mayors directly as well as present at the Examination in Public, so you will need excellent written and verbal communication skills and as well as experience operating within a political context.   The ability to work successfully with a range of internal and external stakeholders is also important.

 

You should have a degree/post graduate qualification in planning or equivalent with eligibility for RTPI membership.
