The Greater London Authority (GLA) is a unique form of strategic citywide government for London, made up of a directly elected Mayor and London Assembly. We’re focused on making London an outstanding world city with a safe and sustainable environment. Join our committed team, and help make London a better place for all its communities.

We are recruiting for 2 vacancies in the London Assembly Labour Group to support busy Assembly Members.

Unmesh Desai (fixed term until May) represents City & East Constituency covering Barking & Dagenham, Newham, Tower Hamlets and City of London and he is seeking a full time Research Support Officer.

Florence Eshalomi (maternity cover) represents Lambeth & Southwark Constituency and she is seeking a full time Research Support Officer to cover for maternity leave.

Whether preparing for a meeting, submitting a question to London’s Mayor or tabling a motion, they will look to you for advice and information. Proactively anticipating and carefully considering their needs, you’ll have the answers at your fingertips. Looking into emerging trends and issues facing London, you’ll provide core research and policy briefings. You’ll manage their diary, correspondence and casework, and produce constituency reports to publication standard. Working with the senior press officer, you will provide pro-active public affairs support. As first point of contact, you’ll represent professional views and interests to a wide range of people both within and external to the organisation.

With proven experience of providing direct support to influential, high profile people, you’re used to dealing with confidential and sensitive issues and documents within a pressurised environment. Excellent organisational, research, analytical and problem-solving skills will be crucial to your success. Collaborative and diplomatic, you’ll bring to the role a demonstrable flair for communicating and influencing both in person and in writing.
