Senior Board Officer – Skills & Employment

The Greater London Authority (GLA) is looking to recruit a Senior Board Officer to provide high level governance and clerking support to the Skills and Employment Unit. The primary objective of the GLA’s Skills and Employment Unit is to fulfil the Mayor’s role to promote and deliver skills and employment policy and deliver the commitments set out in his Skills for Londoners Strategy. The Unit is also responsible for the management and delivery of the Adult Education Budget (AEB) in London.

As a Senior Board Officer you will provide high quality committee services support to the Mayor’s Skills for Londoners Board, Business Partnership and their associated task and finish groups, as well as the internal and external governance processes associated with the Skills & Employment Unit as necessary, including those related to the AEB. You will also support the effective management of the Unit’s decision‑making processes.

Candidates should have: a proven track record of success in managing formal Board and/or Committee meetings; the ability to interpret and apply governance best practice; a broad understanding of key policy and political issues affecting London and its governance structures; and a successful track record in working with a range stakeholders.

This role will be based at London Fire Brigade’s Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL).

This role is politically restricted under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
