Project Manager (Regeneration Team)

The Regeneration team at the GLA is an exciting place to be and following a successful European funding bid, a fixed term role has been created to help deliver a European project, shape London’s economic growth and contribute to the delivery of the GLA’s Regeneration initiatives and the Mayor’s vision of London as the best place in the world to do business and to start and grow a new company.

The post offers the opportunity to develop an in-depth knowledge of this complex policy area, working with a range of private and public sector stakeholders from across London and Europe to deliver a challenging programme of activities.

The successful candidate will be working in a multi-disciplinary project team, which delivers a wide range of projects and programmes, and will lead the delivery of the Revolving Investment in Cities of Europe (RICE) research project.  This would entail;

  • Working with European partners such as the cities of Milan and The Hague, and the European Investment Bank to develop cross-border investment products and frameworks to help catalyse innovation and maintain London’s position as the best place to do business in London;
  • Representing the GLA at stakeholder meetings hosted by the project partners;
  • Working collaboratively with the GLA Intelligence team to identify how Financial Instruments might support wider SMART City objectives;
  • Working collaboratively with the GLA Infrastructure team to support an infrastructure needs assessment and development of a dynamic systems model for London.

The ideal candidate will have initiative and drive, along with the ability to prioritise a challenging work load and adapt quickly to new situations. They will have substantial experience of delivering programmes and projects and demonstrable ability to analyse and interpret information to assess risk, brief decision makers and identify workable solutions to problems as they arise.

Effective communication and diplomatic skills are essential to develop good relationships with internal and external stakeholders and a range of private and public sector networks. Working with European agencies at a sensitive time will require a high level of political awareness of both domestic and European political pressures.
