Area Manager x 3 (Housing and Land)

Tackling London’s housing crisis is Sadiq Khan’s first priority as Mayor of London. With a substantial financial settlement to invest alongside robust planning policy, the delivery of affordable housing across the city is now increasing on previous years.

The work of Housing and Land is right at the heart of this effort and through our efforts to optimise the delivery of more genuinely affordable homes, we’re broadening our attempts to work with partners across the London to bring forward more land in sustainable locations and to help meet growing demand.

The Area Teams lead the Mayor’s relationships with Investment Partners and the North-West Area Team Strategic Partnerships with some of London’s largest housing providers, manage complex investment models with bespoke developers and are leading the Innovation Fund to support new and scalable ideas to grow housing delivery.

There are three opportunities in the North-West Area Team including a permanent role and two fixed term or secondment opportunities (1 x 12 month Fixed Term and 1 x Maternity Cover until September 2018)

The successful candidates will lead investment relationships with a portfolio of Registered Providers delivering homes across London.  They will also work with boroughs in North West London through their own affordable housing delivery, Housing Zones, Housing Infrastructure Fund projects and identify a future pipeline of opportunities for housing growth.

We’re looking for people with a well-rounded understanding of the development process who may also have experience of regeneration, development finance, investment models, housing delivery or strategic planning.  You will be able to understand, interpret and present complex sets of data and contractual relationships through the delivery of projects and investments.  You will be able to able to work with partners, influence decision making and bring people with you.

The team is overseeing the Homes for Londoners Innovation Fund so it is leading projects to support community led housing, custom build and precision manufactured homes.  Successful candidates will be able to motivate internal and external stakeholders to further the Mayor’s aims to grow these sectors across the capital.

We also manage complex development models so we’re also looking for one of these roles to be filled by someone who has a keen interest in the mechanics of investment structures and the role of finance behind delivery. You will have an eye for detail, be comfortable with development appraisals, cashflows and business plan forecasts and a good understanding of the development process from land acquisition to sales.
