Research and Statistical Analyst

The Greater London Authority (GLA) is a unique city government for Greater London supporting the directly elected Mayor and scrutinised by the elected London Assembly. The Mayor has responsibility for an annual investment of around £500m to provide genuinely affordable homes for Londoners, holds a portfolio of land across the GLA family that can come forward for housing delivery, and sets the strategic policy direction for housing in the city as a whole.

We are seeking a research and statistical analyst to join the Housing and Land Directorate to help develop the evidence base underpinning the Mayor’s housing policies. This is an exciting time to work on an issue of huge and growing importance for London and cities around the world.

The role will involve analysing complex data and monitoring London’s fast-changing housing market to provide high-quality briefings and reports to the Mayor and senior officers, contributing to major research projects on housing and related topics, and responding to questions from the London Assembly and the wider public. The results of this work will feature in the Mayor’s annual housing statistics report and influence the development of his London Housing Strategy and London Plan.

You will have highly developed analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills and the ability to apply them to urban policy questions, and you will be able to communicate insights from complex and diverse sources of data clearly and engagingly using both text and visuals.  Experience of using statistical or mapping software for data analysis is essential, and knowledge of housing policy would be valuable.
