GIS Officer LLDC-IMA

Would you like to join an ambitious and forward looking unit of analysts, researchers and data experts?

The Greater London Authority (GLA) relies on the Intelligence Unit to provide high quality data and analysis to inform policy and investment in one of the world’s truly global cities. Working within the corporate GIS team, your work will be split equally between two complimentary projects:

LLDC

The post-games development of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is one of the largest and most high-profile opportunities in Europe to create a new ‘smart’ district. Work is led by the London Legacy Development Corporation and you will provide specialist GIS support to LLDC staff. This will include providing advice, carrying out GIS analysis projects and ensuring that data flows smoothly from the central Postgres database to and from contractors.

IMA

The Infrastructure Mapping Application (IMA) https://maps.london.gov.uk/ima/ was developed to provide insight and increase certainty regarding London’s future growth, helping co-ordinate construction projects and minimise disruption. Version 2.0 allowed us to reliably combine large volumes of data and the development of Version 3.0 over the coming 2 years will focus on complex data-sourcing, visualisation, analytics and automating updates. Working alongside project managers, developers and engagement specialists, you will provide GIS support to the IMA project.

This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and experience, but you will need to bring with you a strong technical background including detailed knowledge of Geographic Information Systems in practical use and evidence of commitment to keep abreast of new development. You will also need to be able to think creatively about how your team’s products and services will fit into emerging agendas like big data and smart cities.

If you enjoy working with clients and providing innovative, practical solutions using GIS - apply today.
