Senior Board Officer

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Board Officer to join the Greater London Authority’s Committee Services team on a fixed term or secondment basis until September 2019.

The role holder will provide secretariat and clerking support to a range of mayoral boards. Based at City Hall, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced governance professional to gain, or further develop, experience of working within a political environment.

You will have a proven track record of success in managing formal board and/or committee meetings; evidence of the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and governance best practice; and a broad understanding of key policy and political issues affecting London, and the governance structures of London.

Your interpersonal skills and ability to influence will be highly developed, as will your written skills, attention to detail and ability to organise and prioritise work in a pressurised environment. You will be able to manage relationships between senior staff across the GLA Group, as well as mayoral appointees and high profile external board members with tact and diplomacy.

You will have a firm grasp of the use and application of IT systems, ideally including committee management software, and a strong quality focus and commitment to transparency would be advantageous.

This job is ‘politically restricted’ under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
