Making the most of our assets

The housing crisis is one of the greatest challenges facing the capital – and the Mayor of London has ambitious plans to tackle it. The Greater London Authority (GLA) is working hard to make genuinely affordable homes a reality for more people. The scale of the challenge is huge, but so is our commitment. Together we can build a London for everyone.

The opportunity

Increasing housing supply, regenerating communities and boosting economic growth - your expertise will be key to ensuring public sector assets work to the benefit of Londoners. This is about investment, direct delivery and risk management: looking after resources for local communities in order to deliver more genuinely affordable homes for Londoners. You’ll develop relationships with investment partners and London boroughs and manage the procurement of services required for different projects and programmes. You will assess funding bids from investment partners, manage investment programmes and be responsible for identifying and driving forward your own new projects, from buying land to developing policies and strategies.

The person

You’re likely to have professional experience of regeneration, development or investment, or a related area, but this isn’t essential – we’re looking for creative thinkers and ambitious deliverers who want to build genuinely affordable homes for London. You’ll combine strong commercial sense with a keen awareness of the needs of London’s diverse communities. Building and managing productive business relationships will be key, as will an innovative approach to problem-solving and issue resolution. We value diversity of thought and experience, and encourage applications from anyone who can offer a new opinion or perspective and think they can bring their diverse skills and experience to help deliver more affordable homes.

Application Process

Please apply using your CV and a two page (maximum) covering letter. It is important you provide evidence of your skills, knowledge and experience and information outlined in the person specification for the role. Short listing will be carried out on the information on your CV and covering letter.
