Communications Manager (Sharing Cities)

Take a leading role in the future of cities

Would you like to take a leading role in managing the communications and marketing strategy of a multi-million, international smart cities programme? The Greater London Authority is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and talented communications professional to take on a key role with Sharing Cities, a €25 million EU funded programme that looks at how innovative uses of technology such as lampposts with electronic sensors, electric vehicles and data platforms can transform the way that London, Milan and Lisbon, as well as other cities across Europe, work together to improve urban environments and the lives of their residents.

The purpose of this role is to lead the coordination and delivery of communications, stakeholder engagement, and marketing activity across the Sharing Cities programme. The post holder will support the Programme Management Office (PMO) to ensure programme objectives and outcomes are met through effective communications and marketing activities.

The Communications Manager will support the achievement of strategic ambitions including the scaling up of successful technologies outside of demonstrator areas and the shaping of the smart cities marketplace by managing a range of projects that seek to elevate the achievements of the Sharing Cities programme on the global stage, capture and disseminate the knowledge gained by the Programme’s experience of implementing these innovations across a variety of different city contexts.

The Communications Manager will report to the Programme Manager and be responsible for implementing the Programme’s communications strategy, managing the Programme’s communications channels including social media, and identify strategic opportunities for the Programme to showcase its experiences and learnings at global events.
