Principal Policy and Programme Officer (x2)

 

The GLA Environment Unit is recruiting two Principal Policy and Programme Officers; one permanent post and one 12-month fixed term post (maternity cover) in the Green Infrastructure team.

The London Environment Strategy sets out the ambition for London to be greener in the future than it is today.

We are seeking two talented individuals to help lead the environment team’s work on green infrastructure and the natural environment.

You will arrive at an exciting time as we take forward projects and policies to ensure green infrastructure is the at the centre of London’s response to a range of environmental and social challenges, including climate change, as well as ensuring Londoners have good access to high quality green space, rich in wildlife.  

Excellent analytical, organisational and influencing skills will be crucial as these roles  will involve developing and implementing policy, as well as designing and delivering a range of projects and initiatives including those related to trees, parks and green spaces. 

The roles require a good understanding of green infrastructure and the natural environment as well as ability to successfully communicate and advocate change. You will be required to build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders from across the social, environmental and business sectors. Both roles will involve line managing small teams  overseeing a fast-paced programme of work.  Experience in environmental planning would also be an advantageous.
