Deputy Head of Office (GLA Conservative Group)

This is a unique chance to become the Deputy Head of Office for the GLA Conservative Members of the London Assembly.  London is the most vibrant, most diverse and most energetic capital in the world – few jobs can boast such potential and such excitement.

 

Working closely with the Head of Office, you will be responsible for managing the provision of direct research support to the Members of the Group, the related staffing team and representing the Group and its GLA-related positions/interests within the organisation and beyond. Key to your work will be ensuring monthly policy reports on subjects of importance to Londoners.

 

You will also take the on the research portfolio scrutinising the Mayor of London’s budget.

 

You will need significant experience of successful working in a similar role within political, policy or comparable high-profile environment, including resolving complex issues effectively and efficiently.

 

You will have line management responsibility for the research team.

 

A thorough understanding of current policy issues affecting London is required, together with an understanding of the legislative framework in which the GLA works, together with evidence of an ability to lead and motivate a team of staff to ensure that policies, programmes and strategies are implemented.

 

The ability to produce authoritative clear and concise oral and written reports and to carry out research on complex issues for a range of audiences, presenting it in a way that can be used by Assembly Members to their best advantage, is essential.

 

You must also demonstrate commitment and understanding of the role of the GLA in promoting equality and working with diverse groups in developing the work required to advance the needs of Assembly Members.
