Head of Planning - Development Management (maternity cover - 12 months)

Lead the OPDC’s Development Management team and help shape the future of Old Oak.

 

We have a fantastic opportunity for talented individual to join our team covering a period of maternity leave.

 

It’s an exciting time for Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation. With an emerging new strategy for delivering the ambitious homes and jobs targets for the area set out in the London Plan, this is your chance to help shape London’s largest and most exciting regeneration project.  As Head of Development Management, you will help to promote the physical, social, economic and environmental regeneration of the area by encouraging high quality development that capitalises on the opportunity presented by the planned High Speed 2, Elizabeth line and London Overground transport interchange at Old Oak Common.

 

Leading the Development Management service for this period of maternity cover, you will take responsibility for managing a small team of planners and overseeing the processing and determination of planning applications, including the negotiation of associated legal agreements and conditions, and delivering an efficient, effective and proactive pre-application advice service. You will ensure potential breaches of planning control are investigated and enforced as necessary and that OPDC’s statutory planning obligations are met and exceeded where possible. Alongside advising the CEO, OPDC Board, Planning Committee, Director of Planning and the Chair of the Planning Committee on development management issues, you will represent the OPDC’s strategic vision with external partners including the boroughs, TfL, the GLA and HS2 Ltd.

 

Known for your expertise in development management and your ability to deal with complex strategic planning issues, you will bring experience of leading teams of planners in a senior planning role, whilst reporting to and deputising for the Director of Planning.  Your clear understanding of the planning policy context and the political, social, environmental and economic issues relating to West London and the OPDC will be matched by a degree in town and country planning or equivalent.
