We currently have two exciting roles to fill in the Greater
London Authority’s Enviornment Team, which
is responsible for the delivery of the London Environment Strategy and a green recovery
from the pandemic. You will work in a team committed to making a difference to
the lives of Londoners and future generations.
Green Infrastructure (37hrs): GLA3557
The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated more than ever the importance of green
infrastructure for Londoners’
wellbeing. We are seeking a
talented individual with experience of developing and
delivering green infrastructure policy and projects. You will arrive at an exciting time as we take forward
projects and policies to safeguard, improve and expand London’s green
infrastructure. This will include
working on programmes to making London’s public realm greener, improving access
to, and enhancing green spaces, and increasing the capital’s resilience to the
impacts of climate change.
Sustainable
Development (37 hrs): GLA953
This role will help support the Mayor in delivering his statutory sustainable
development duty, including providing support to the Mayor’s London Sustainable
Development Commission. You will focus on current policy issues and participate
in relevant research, analysis and project-based policy development and
implementation support.
To succeed you will
need a thorough knowledge of sustainable development and experience of
implementing sustainability in a political environment, including a successful
track record of communicating such complex issues. We are looking in particular
for someone with experience and expertise in social sustainability and social
value to help better embed this into our wider work.
Both roles require
a flexible, adaptable, and collaborative approach, and will involve working on
many initiatives simultaneously in a fast paced and political environment,
You should have excellent organisational, research,
problem-solving and delivery skills as well as a demonstrable flair for
communicating, influencing, and building strong relationships with key
stakeholders
including London boroughs, community groups and government departments.

The Mayor announced earlier this year that City Hall will be
relocating from More London (London Bridge) to the CrystalBuilding in the RoyalDocks and Union Street in Southwark. Further
information on the relocation announcement, can be found here.
These roles will be based at the London Fire Brigade’s Head Office
(Union Street SE1 0LL). At present GLA staff are working largely from home,
with office space. We are moving to
hybrid working, linked to our relocation programme. As part of this, you may be
required to split your time between home working and coming into the office.
