Do you want to help make London a better place to live, work and visit? Join the London Assembly Scrutiny Team and work with Assembly Members investigating London’s big issues and holding the Mayor to account.
This role is to support the work of the Assembly’s Environment Committee. It has recently conducted investigations into topics such as air pollution, plastic waste, and parks and green spaces. Experience or knowledge of environmental issues and policies would be an advantage, but we’re not only looking for specialists – it’s more important you are able to pick up new topics quickly and have a passion for London and how it is run.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary project team, you will contribute to, and in some cases, lead our high-quality research investigations. You will be working closely with Assembly Members from across the political spectrum, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and using a range of research and analysis techniques.
The ideal candidate has excellent writing skills in order to turn research material into briefings for Assembly Members and attractive published reports. You will need plenty of initiative, drive and enthusiasm, and must be able to balance strong research and analysis skills with the sensitivity and tact required to thrive in a high-profile political environment. We are looking for motivated people with a passion for London and an enthusiasm for learning.
This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in dealing with a wide range of stakeholders inside and outside City Hall – including senior elected politicians. So, if you like creative thinking, stakeholder engagement and have strong drafting skills, this job could be perfect for you.
