In 2020, Londoners will elect a new Mayor and London Assembly. We’re looking for an exceptional Head of Media Relations to develop and lead press and communications for these important elections. This is an exciting role at the heart of London government and an unrivalled opportunity to manage a high-profile project from start to finish.

With extensive experience in media and communications, you will be a strong communicator with a significant track record of success in delivering media and public relations strategy in a complex political environment.   You’ll need to be ready to hit the ground running to set up a press office, create a strategy and deliver it all within tight timeframes and at a fast pace. Experience of building a press office or similar from scratch for a specific high-profile event would be beneficial.

This is a high profile, pivotal role, liaising directly with national and international media and working closely with the London Elects leadership team, which is overseen by the Greater London Returning Officer. You’ll have a real nose for news and a full understanding of the political context.  You’ll be passionate and knowledgeable about London, familiar with the issues facing a major world city, and have significant experience of using different media to promote key policies and priorities.

Finally, you’ll be a natural leader, with a proven talent for setting up, leading and motivating teams.

This role is politically restricted’ under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
