Senior Project Officer - Rough Sleeping

Where project management saves lives

The housing crisis is one of the greatest challenges facing the capital – and the Mayor of London has ambitious plans to tackle it. The Greater London Authority (GLA) is working hard to make genuinely affordable homes a reality for more people. At the same time, the Mayor provides a range of services to help rough sleepers come off the streets and rebuild their lives. The scale of the challenge is huge, but so is our commitment. Together we can build a London for everyone.

The opportunity

£8.45 million a year of GLA funding is spent on the Mayor's core rough sleeping services such as outreach workers, cold weather shelters and mental health services. You’ll ensure it’s invested where it’s needed most. Supporting a Project Manager, you’ll work across the GLA and with GLA partners to specify major new projects and services for rough sleepers. Involved from procurement to contract management, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to develop your skills.

The person

To succeed, you’ll need a thorough understanding of procurement processes, including relevant legal and operational issues. Good knowledge of policy, procedures and legislation relevant to supplier relationship management is essential, as is experience of contract monitoring for homelessness or other social care services. A strategic thinker and a skilled relationship-builder, you’ll be ready to apply your skills to one of the capital’s most pressing issues.
