Senior Planning Officer - Development Management

Take a senior role within OPDC’s Development Management team and help shape the future of the Old Oak and Park Royal Opportunity Area.

Old Oak and Park Royal is London’s largest Opportunity Area and one of only two statutory Mayoral Development Corporations. The OPDC area spans three London boroughs, the Park Royal business park and has the new HS2 and Elizabeth Line station at Old Oak Common at its heart. OPDC is leading the planning and regeneration of this emerging new district with the potential to deliver many thousands of new homes and jobs over the coming years.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented individual to join our Development Management team as Senior Planner.

The candidate

This is your chance to shape London’s largest regeneration project as part of the Mayor of London’s Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC).  You’ll help deliver the Mayor’s vision for jobs and growth as you play your part in our plans for the creation of a new vibrant part of London and delivery of high quality, high density development that future generations of Londoners will be proud of.

As Senior Planner, you will lead on a range of planning applications and pre-application proposals, including major mixed-use and industrial developments. You will demonstrate your ability to work pro-actively on your own caseload, prepare and present reports for decision by the Planning Committee and under delegated authority, and will respond to enquiries from the public, providing advice and guidance on the Corporation’s planning processes and Development Plan policies.

The successful candidates will possess a relevant degree and be eligible for RTPI membership. You will be able to demonstrate successful experience in a similar role and will have a good understanding of the working environment of a local planning authority. Experience of dealing with large-scale major applications will be an advantage. You will also have an excellent understanding of the local, regional and national planning policy context and legislative framework. You believe strongly in working flexibly as part of a team to get the job done and are confident in your technical expertise and experience to proactively manage your own workload and deliver successful outcomes.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements.
