Head of Committee and Member Services

The GLA is now recruiting for the position of Head of Committee and Member Services. This wide-ranging and challenging role leads in delivering excellent meeting, governance and Member-support functions within the GLA and across the wider GLA Group.

The Head of Committee and Member Services provides high quality committee services support for the London Assembly and its committees, boards established by the Mayor of London, the London Fire & Emergency Planning Authority and its committees, the Transport for London Board and its committees, and the two Mayoral Development Corporations.


It essential you have proven experience of providing committee and member support within a local authority, government department or other political organisation.  You will need to have strong management, team leadership and interpersonal skills as the successful applicant will be directly responsible for a team of 23, including three senior managers. 


Depending on your experience and skills, the successful candidate may also be recommended to the Mayor of London and London Assembly for consideration in relation to the role of Monitoring Officer at the GLA. Whilst not an essential requirement for the core duties of the Head of Committee and Member Services role, applicants will be given the option of setting out their experience in the application form in relation to local authority codes of conduct, gifts and hospitality, interests and general probity issues.


This role is politically restricted under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
