We are recruiting for 3 vacancies in the London Assembly Labour Group to support busy Assembly Members.

Unmesh Desai represents Barking & Dagenham, City of London, Newham and Tower Hamlets and is seeking a full-time, permanent RSO

Jennette Arnold represents Hackney, Islington and Waltham Forest and is seeking 2 people to job share a permanent post. One position will be for 3 days and the other for 2 days. The post supporting Jennette for 2 days a week will primarily focus on providing her with pro-active public affairs support, including drafting press releases, newsletters and constituency reports to publication standard and will have responsibility for managing Jennette’s social media profile. The post covering 3 days will cover more general duties of the role, as outlined below and in the job description, although there will be an overlap.

Whether preparing for a meeting, submitting a question to London’s Mayor or tabling a motion, they will look to you for advice and information. Proactively anticipating and carefully considering their needs, you’ll have the answers at your fingertips. You’ll manage their diary, correspondence and casework, and produce policy and constituency reports to publication standard. Working with the senior press officer, you will provide pro-active public affairs support. As first point of contact, you’ll represent professional views and interests to a wide range of people both within and external to the organisation. Looking into emerging trends and issues facing London, you’ll provide core research and policy briefings.

With proven experience of providing direct support to influential, high profile people, you’re used to dealing with confidential and sensitive issues and documents within a pressurised environment. Excellent organisational, research and problem-solving skills will be crucial to your success. Collaborative and diplomatic, you’ll bring to the role a demonstrable flair for communicating and influencing both in person and in writing.
